Your Own St. Patrick's Day Story
Sinara and the Leprechaun
St. Patrick's Day, March 17th, was a blustery, bright spring day. Walking home, Sinara and panther drew their jackets around them, shivering a little in the cool spring breeze. As they walked by a large bush, they heard a shout, "Hey you! Hey you two! Where's your green?"
Sinara and panther stopped in their tracks and looked around. "Did you hear that?" panther asked. "I sure did," Sinara answered, "but I don't see anyone."
Suddenly, a tiny man appeared in front of them! "Here I am!" the strange little guy said. "Don't you know today is St. Patrick's Day? Where's your green!" Sinara and panther looked at each other, too stunned to speak. This guy seemed to be a real leprechaun! But there's no such thing, thought Sinara.
When he didn't get an answer, the little guy said, "You silly things! Here are the rules!" Magically, the leprechaun pulled a large sign from his pocket. The sign read:
Rules for St. Patrick's Day
- Every year on March 17th, you must wear green to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.
- If you wear green and you catch me, you win the pot of gold.
- If you do not wear green and I catch you, you get a Paddy Pinch.
Sinara and panther looked at their clothes. Sinara was wearing purple. panther was wearing navy blue! Oops! The leprechaun began to chuckle. The chuckle turned into a cackle, and the cackle turned into a loud WHOOP! WHOOP! WHOOP!
"Run!" panther yelled. And ran they did! All the way home. Puffing and panting, Sinara and panther grabbed all the green clothes they could find to wear. As they hurriedly dressed, panther said, "Can you believe what just happened?" "No!" Sinara said. "But I know one thing for sure. From now on, I won't forget to wear green on St. Patrick's Day! I want that pot of gold, not a pinch from a little green leprechaun!"
Sinara and panther laughed and laughed. Sinara said, "Let's keep this between us. Nobody will believe this!" panther solemnly agreed. And they never forgot to wear green on St. Patrick's Day, ever again!
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
The End
